In the early 1900s, Aleister Crowley, an English philosopher and occultist, founded Thelema, a philosophy that champions libertinism placing emphasis on doing whatever you want. The word thelēma is Greek for will, hence the Thelēma movement is about following one's true will instead of God’s (divine) will, with the main tenet ‘ do what thou wilt ’.
