According to De Felice (1992), nutraceutical can be defined as any substance that may be considered a food or part of a food and provides medical or health benefits including the prevention and treatment of disease. On the other hand, Health Canada defines nutraceutical as “a product prepared from foods, but sold in the form of pills, or powder, or in other medicinal forms, not usually associated with foods”.
