Ukushungqisela works similar to fumigation. The medicine is set on fire, then the burning medicine is covered with a cloth to restrict the availability of oxygen. The flame on the medicine dies down (due to insufficient oxygen) and a lot of smoke is produced. The smoke is then administered as medicine.
